These Studies Led To Further Studies

As part of her next book on the visual culture in Pakistan, Saima Zaidi commissioned Studio Otherness to explore the complicated history of the Karachi Circular Railway. These works represent some selections from a year of dialogue, co-creation, and back-and-forth between the studio and Saima.

These collages support a new essay, written by Pultizer-prize winning Ian Sigal.

The book is currently in production, and you can read one of Ivan's past works on the railroad here.

Our work with Saima and the Karachi Circular Railway focuses on the concepts of erosion and resolution, capturing the many false starts, half-starts, and contradictions in the transit system in Pakistan's capital city.
